THE GENESIS GIANTS
Genesis 6:1-4 (KJB) And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, (2) That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. (3) And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. (4) There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
These giants that Genesis 6:4 talks about are not a football team nor a baseball team, so who were these giants and where did they come from? Let’s take a look at them.
In the first 2 verses of our text verses, we see that began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born unto them. Then the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair and took whom they chose as wives. Who are these sons of God? Let’s look at Job 1:6-7
Job 1:6-7(KJB) Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Notice that when they went before the Lord, satan was with them, so these sons of God are fallen angels. These fallen angles came in unto the daughters of men and children were born unto them. These children became mighty men which were of old and men of renown. They were strong, mighty and everyone knew about them, (Genesis 1:4). But you say, Brother Robert, angels do not marry nor have children. Ok, let’s look at Matthew 22:30.
Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Do you see that? as the angels IN HEAVEN. The angels in heaven do not marry nor have children. These angels were on earth. These angels were the ones who God did not spare (2 Peter 2:4) and kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation( Jude 6). Look at Isaiah 14:12-14.
Isaiah 14:12- How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Satan and his angels were on earth. How do I know that? In order for satan to go above the stars and ascend about the clouds, the only place he could be was on earth.
These Giants were around during Noah’s time, all the way through the time of Joshua also. Look at this Giant.
Deuteronomy 3:11(KJB) For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.
Og was a remnant of the Rephraims, which means “the fallen ones” or “giants” He was about 13” tall. Just look at the size of his bedstead. It measured about 13.5′ x 6′. Even Goliath was about 9’9′.
Also, in Joshua’s day, when the 12 spies were sent out, they came back to the camp and 10 of them decided that it was not a good idea for them to go possess the land because of the giants. Only Joshua and Caleb wanted to obey God and possess the land. (Numbers 13:1- 14-30)
In Daniel 2 when Daniel was interpreting the dream of Nebuchadnezzar, we see in verse 43 and 44:
Daniel 2:43-44(KJB) And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
One day, there is going to be a remnant of these giants rise up, and then in the days of these kings, the God of heaven will set up his kingdom (of heaven).
We are living in the days “as the days of Noe”. The universal flood, Noah’s flood, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the last judgment all have one thing in common. God did not destroy the earth with a flood, nor destroy Sodom and Gomorrah to destroy man in general. It was to wipe out these giants.
Matthew 24:37(KJB) But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
