Bro. Robert Reynolds / Preacher
Hello. My name is Bro. Robert Reynolds. I was born in a small town in southern Illinois called Centralia in July of 1969. I was raised in a town about 20 miles from there called Carlyle. It is about 20 miles east of St. Louis, Mo.
When I was in high school, I kept telling myself that I would never ever join any branch of the military, but, even though I was not saved at that time, the Lord had other plans for me. Six months after graduating from high school, I joined the U.S. Navy, and in January of 1988, I shipped out to boot camp in Orlando, FL. The very first country that I got to visit while in the Navy, was the Philippines, and because of the Navy, I got to visit the Philippines eleven times. God used this to develop in me, a heart for the Philippines and the Filipino people.
I was saved in 1995, in Yokosuka, Japan. In 1997, the Lord called me to preach, but, as much as I wanted to, I kept telling the Lord, No. The reason being, is that I was so afraid of public speaking. Stage fright came to me real easily. This went on for 14 years, but even so, the gifts and calling of God are without repentance (). In 1998, my met my wife, who is Filipina, and in 1999, we got married. We now have 3 wonderful children, one girl and two boys. In 2011, The Lord called me and my family to the Philippines, as missionaries. This time, I said ok, Lord, if that is what you want, that is what me and my family will do.
We arrived in the Philippines in April of 2011. after about a week and a half of travel from Illinois to California, from California to Hawaii, from Hawaii to Guam, and then from Guam to the Philippines. I preached my first sermon ever in Laoag City. It was only a 5 minute sermon, from what I was told, but it felt like 5 years. During that preaching, I almost gave up and quit. In my mind, I was telling myself that I could not do this, and the sweat was just coming off my face and I was so nervous that I did not want to look at the congregation. Eventually, I took a deep breath and asked the Lord for help. I thank my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ for not allowing me to quit that day.
We have now been in the Philippines for 8 years. What a joy and honor it is to serve the Lord here. The ministry that we have now, is an evangelistic ministry. We have been doing this now, since August of 2014. I am praying about having Bible studies in people’s homes, having a street preaching ministry, and a full time internet radio ministry. On our first evagelistic trip to Iloilo, I was told by the pastor there, that some of his congregation got their Bibles from trash cans. This really hit me in my heart, and I want to be able to provide King James Bibles to the churches that we meet.
If you are a man, and struggling with fear, such as what I had, and by the way, I still get nervous, while preaching, but I urge you to trust the Lord and do what he has called you to do. You will not regret it.
My family and I praise and thank the Lord for his faithfulness and goodness to us, and are honored to serve the Lord, here in the Philippines. Please pray for us, as we travel and share the word of God with the Filipino people. Thank you so much, and Lord bless you all.
